Bowman’s Beach is the penultimate beach. It is the largest public beach on Sanibel and Captiva with the most amenities but what makes it so special is the beautiful natural setting. The public beach area covers 50 acres and only has single family homes adjacent to it, so it is more natural, less crowded, and the best spot to begin a beach walk. If you’re looking for a Rio de Janeiro party beach, this is not your scene, but there is plenty of live entertainment.
Hanging with flocks of shore birds, watching pelicans dive-bomb their dinners and seeking shells, is how we roll at Bowman’s. Your evening show can include dolphins and, of course, a spectacular sunset. It has 214 parking spaces, restrooms, outside showers and changing rooms, picnic areas and barbeque grills and even a soda machine. There is also a playground, shaded pavilion, fitness trail and shell information kiosk. If you can only go to one beach while you’re visiting, this is it.
