There is no better place than Ding Darling Nature Preserve to see many different species of birds. You’ll likely have better luck seeing more birds in the early morning, at dusk or at low tide. You can take a guided tram tour or drive through in your own car for $5.00 or bike or hike, which is $1.00. Also, please note that the preserve is closed on Fridays and don’t forget to visit the museum!
The preserve is named after JN “Ding” Darling who is a local hero because he saved Sanibel from being one big concrete theme park!
