The original Lazy Flamingo, located at the very end of Sanibel just before the bridge to Captiva, used to be the best kept secret of locals. Word got out years ago about the delicious food and ice cold beer; so they’ve expanded with more restaurants. The original “Lazy” is the best sort of beach dive bar and is as casual as it can get. Diners can come for lunch or dinner straight from the beach and your food is usually straight from local waters as well. In addition to the fresh seafood, their burger is one of the best on the islands. They have a terrific kids menu and kids meals are served on a souvenir Lazy Flamingo Frisbee. Mastering the ring toss game can take hours and a couple of beers. If you are staying on the east end try out their other location on 1036 Periwinkle Way.
